Chapter 2
Think of Chapter 2 as a funnel and lead the reader from the broad context of the study to an explanation of why this specific study is needed. To ensure your study is relevant and current, continue to expand and update the literature review through the final dissertation manuscript draft. No more than 5 years from the publication date of the dissertation.
Checklist:
☐ Begin with the first sentence of the problem and purpose statement that leads to a brief explanation of the organization of the literature review. Copy verbatim from Chapter 1.
☐ Provide an overview of the literature that will be discussed.
☐ Devote approximately 30 to 60 pages to this chapter and include citations to at least 50 to 75 relevant sources.
☐ At least 80% of your sources should be no more than 5 years old.
☐ When the chapter is completed, update the table of contents using the Word.doc feature.
